There is no Phil Knight for UF. But there's a bunch of dudes out there that went through business school or the building construction program that, together, can be as impactful as Phil Knight. UF is pushing them away.
and this is why, from 2024 onwards Oregon is more of a destination school then Florida

Until the uaa is cleaned out and new boosters are brought in there is no NIL supply and no financial backing for important things like coaches and assistants that win

Look napier wanted tosh lupoi when he started at Florida and was getting close to closing when Dan Lanning got hired at Oregon and snatched him away last second

Lanning was a total unknown as a HC at the time and Napier while a question mark in his own right still had some tangible success at a very low level of division 1 college football

But how was Lanning able to do it? Oregon has more resources and is willing to spend more on assistants then Florida.

Lanning has the world on a platter for him at Oregon, and he’d never get that at florida, so why would he leave Oregon for florida?

The uaa wouldn’t even try for Lanning but even if they did Oregon would outbid the shite out of Florida and it wouldn’t even be close

that's why coaches continuously leave oregon for other options.
that was when Oregon was in a dying Pac12 now it’s in the B1G which has more tv money than the sec and practically the same prestige

I agree that UF is probably not considered a destination, as it once was. It can come back, but some radical change is needed. And I also don't think Lanning would ditch Oregon for UF - unless it was just a desire to get back to the south or the SEC.

We got spoiled with Spurrier - he made it look too easy because he was a genius. We got spoiled with Meyer because was a force of will. Now we have a broken administration that is hurting continuity within the fan base.

This is an inflection point for UF. In all of this, I see nothing from Sasse. Maybe he feels this is a time of chaos for CFB and the best course of action is to sit tight and wait for the storm to pass, see how the deck chairs are re-arranged and make a decision on how to proceed.

I think Stricklin intends on staying with Napier long term.

GAINESVILLE — Florida athletic director Scott Stricklin said it’s news to him that Billy Napier enters Year 3 on the hot seat.

Stricklin doesn’t pay mind to the idea, either way.

“I don’t care. It doesn’t matter. It’s a made-up term,” he told The Orlando Sentinel. “People can put them on whatever list they want. It has nothing to do with reality.”

Stricklin said he backs his football coach 100% and is supremely confident he’ll turn around the Gators despite the overriding assumption Napier enters a make-or-break 2024.

Oh and OU is definitely not a destination job. Ol stinkin Lincoln left there for USC. He upgraded
Franchione left Bama for Aggy. Does that mean Bama isn't a destination job either?

With fisch likely going to Washington here’s a shortlist of uaa targets to replace Napier (if they even fire him):

Jacquez Green Is a former Gator who might be the most likely pick

Jeremy Frioud

Stephen Moffett

Tyler Eden

yep that’s why Thecaw said in parenthesis (if he even gets fire).

Probably will only if he wins 3-4 games next year, but if he wins 5 or more games he gets another year

Bama can fire a coach and get a DC who is a HC and just signed an extension, but we can't get an OC.

I hate everything and everyone.

It is pretty crazy. Florida hires Sun Belt head coach to be a head coach. Alabama hires a Sun Belt head coach to be a......... defensive coordinator? Florida's program is in shambles. I say throw the bank at Urban to come back and revive it. It may not last long, but he would get things back on track. Make him say no.

it’s a good plan but the uaa is too cheap to do it and Urban won’t be under their thumb like Boy Scout billy.

The uaa loves these soft youth pastor type coaches like Billy Napier and Mike White because they don’t step in there toes or complain while the uaa continues to be cheap fricks and tries to not spend money on another related to winning

Meyer is very happy not being a coach right now. He's not coming back unless someone throws an obscene amount of cash at him, and maybe not then.

There is talk that UF will definitely hire an OC. Franz Beard was on with Buddy Martin tonight and he said the talk seems legit that it's going to happen. I believe the coaches convention (or whatever it's called) is ongoing, or about to take place. In the old days that was when a ton of coaching stuff got done. Maybe now is the time that the OC position gets settled.
