Falcon players quit first

All of this Petrino-bashing being done by the players is a joke. Those guys never accepted him. I don't know who is right or wrong, but they weren't following him anyway. Why do they care that he left? They had already quit on him. Shouldn't they be happy that they're going to get a new start? Maybe now they won't practice so long and they can have some free time to go visit their good buddy Mike Vick since that's all they were worried about Monday night anyway. Free Mike Vick

I think you're absolutely right. It was practically a mutiny on that team, probably because he tried to do some things they didn't like.
If Petrino is your typical coach, with zero loyalty, then most of the Falcons are typical NFL players, spoiled rich thugs. They all suck.

That team just went to the dogs
.
Maybe they should place some of the blame on their criminal qb instead of on someone that came there trying to help them.

Don't get me wrong, I'm sure Petrino was not up to the task of being an NFL head coach, but these players are now getting a pass and all of the blame is being placed on Petrino.
The facts are that Vick was a thug and the rest of the team sucked. I feel bad for Warrick Dunn and Todd McClure, but most of that team is garbage.

I agree. I've seen too much video where it shows the players screaming in Petrino's face.

If I was Petrino...When I saw that Tee Shirt I would have been on the phone as fast as possible to get out of Hot-lanta...I don't blame Petrino a bit for leaving...

The players quit on him because they didn't respect him. The guy is a raging tyrant. He did goofy shite like he didn't let the players talk during meals and they found out they weren't starting from reporters instead of from their passive agressive coach.
Petrino is a scumbag and a failure.

DC, you have to admit an ex Arkansas player totally trashing him is interesting to say the least!

Hell Anderson and Houston trashed him. The thing that got me was Dunn trashing him, that dude's gotta be the classiest athlete around.

Read the whole article... they were just afraid of what Petrino would do to Arkansas players (leaving)... totally understandable they would feel that way.

Spin it baby! Former Arkansas players making negative comments about his trustworthyness will not help in recruiting.

You'll see... like I said, I'm not expecting miracles but I think he'll recruit the skill players that Nutt never could (QB/WR).

Yeah, Matt Jones and Monk suck.
I really reserved judgment on the whole situation, because I wasn't involved in it.
HOWEVER, when Warrick Dunn said what he said, I do believe that Petrino quit and was a poor coach. Dunn has got to be one of the classiest and most well respected players in the leauge today and I'll respect his comments.

Crazy talent... no argument there but not really a prolific passer

Monk
Our ONLY go-to WR so of course, his numbers were awesome.... he was always going to be a Razorback.

Don't forget about McFaddin, Jones, P. Hillis, Mustain and Damian Williams.

They are not QBs/WRs... we've always recruited good RBs, etc. because of Nutt's offensive philosophy.

P. Hillis
Same as above... hometown boy.

Damian Williams
He's at USC after one year...

So you are saying if you have a staff of people that work under you and they decide they don't like you, you should quit and leave town?

DC, Nutt did bring in some amazing talent. I know Mustain left after one year, but he got him there, and he was the #1 QB in the country. M. Jones was a freak and a really good QB.
I think Petrino has taken so much heat nationally, that it will take 3 to 4 years to clean his name among the HS kids. (Talking freshman HS players now) I don't doubt his style will be more explosive than Nutt's, I just don't see him bringing in the talent you are talking about for about 4 years. And who knows if he'll be around that long.

This happened at Louisville, too. After Saban left, our search was narrowed down to Petrino and Miles. I'd never payed much attention to Louisville so I watched their bowl game. There were players screaming in his face in that game, too. And, he just took it. I can remember thinking, damn Saban wouldn't put up with that crap. IMO, players only act that way if you let them.
