If you are getting paid less and are playing in an inferior conf, then it is a step down. History may be on your side, but that doesn't mean shite about how good of a job it is. Just look at Notre Dame. Urban Meyer ran from that interview as fast as he could to Gainesville. Face it, the only reason Miles was even considering Mich was because of his strong ties there. LSU can offer a coach everything Michigan can, plus offer playing in the SEC and a higher pay.

LSU is second to none when it comes to facilities, stadium, assistant coach pay and ability to recruit top 5 classes. Until Michigan gets off its checkbook and realizes that it should be paying its coach 3-4mil a year to be competitive, it is a step down.

And this isn't meant to knock Mich. I love Mich and all it stands for. But facts is facts.
