I don’t think we do J. Contract standards balloon with every passing year. The worry is, does he win? Cause anything can be justified with winning.

Why all the hate at Drink?-he’s a solid coach

Mizzou has less buy-in than Ole Miss and even less of a name in football. He’s done about as well as possible there in an SEC with either a real SEC East or now no divisions as all.

He’s made good hires, especially replacing Baker with little drop off. He’s also recruited better than expected there, including landing a couple of 5 stars, and went all-in on NIL earlier than most.

Yeah, he has the personality of a basic kitchen appliance. He also hasn’t won a lot of big games, but again, look where he is. Do you expect Mizzou, even at its best, to roll through the conference? If Lane isn’t leaving, whoever we hire will require projecting what they can be here, not what they are where they are.

Is Drink at the top of the list? No. Should he be on the list? With Key and Brohm off the board and Dillingham talking like he also is, he almost has to be.

It’s more a matter of who is in front of him than whether he’s on the list.

80%? Try below 70%. BK is better than that

Mizzou was in rough shape after Odom’s tenure, but he’s had three solid year’s in a row. They were supposed to be down this season and are stuck playing a true freshman QB who isn’t ready and have still been better than us with less talent.

A@M is the best team in the SEC right now and Vandy was favored to beat Missouri. This isn’t some knock on them. Drinkwitz is the only candidate being held to these weird standards

They lost their starting QB in the Vandy game. That pretty much ended it.

Exactly Drink is just a poor man’s Dabo

I get the personality comparison, but they couldn’t be more polar opposite as far as how they operate. Dabo became and insta-fossil because of his refusal to adapt to the portal and NIL. Drink was early going all in on NIL and pushed for advantageous state laws to help his team. And he’s been big on the portal.

So nothing like Dabo when it comes to his weaknesses.

You need top tier coaching with the rosters.

I agree that there are bigger upside guys who are better options. Better to spend the money on them.

That said, Drink has made several good hires and then replaced them as they left with more good hires. They aren’t drawing big names at Mizzou, so it takes some scouting to find the right guys who will take those jobs. Look at his defense after Baker- not much of a drop off, which is impressive. From a devil’s advocate perspective. I think he would get good coordinators and position coaches here.

The freshman QB could potentially come with him. He needs some polish but has some loud tools

Plus RB Hardy
Plus freshman WR Olugbode who looks very promising

It’s more of a devil’s advocate argument with me. I’m not sure he’s worth what it would take to pull him. I would rather the higher upside of someone like Schumann who’s spent several seasons inside a championship program, is a more proven caller on their side of the ball, and will come much cheaper, leaving a lot more for staff and NIL.

But I do think Drink is a good coach and the hate is pretty ridiculous considering the full context of the situation.

Casually watching this thread.

A point to note: Drink has not had an above average quarterback while at Mizzou. And it took him a couple years to build his team. Odom was a terrible recruiter. So I would throw out his first couple of years as far as record goes.

Another point to note: it’s not the same old Missouri post NIL. I don’t think most Mizzou fans know what this means just yet. We see the new stadium add on, the corporate and booster money coming in, etc. But who knows what that will all mean in the mid to long run?

Drink staying or going is kind of a barometer for us on the program’s trajectory. But I’m not sure that’s a good measure.

Weirdly good but not quite fulfilling times at Mizzou right now. But if Drink can ever land a quality QB, the sky is the limit with him IMO.

Because the same idiots that wanted Saban back have realized it’s not nor ever was going to happen so hate is setting in now.
