Aside from the "insiders" sharing bull crap, do we have any definitive sources that can confirm that we had actual negotiations going on beyond an initial interview?

No. but we know that a top 10 program should be able to find a good hire after a 2 month search.

It didn't have to be one of them. There are many better coaches than ed fricking orgeron. but they never intended to hire anyone else.
