I remember this board melting hard at the prospect of us hiring him at DC. There was a week or two where he was thought to be the front runner

Woody does market value for the contracts. He pays so he can get the guy we want. O was too busy burying his head in arse acting like a rockstar for him to make a hire at DC so Woody took it upon himself to do it. Jones was 100% O's hire. Bo wasn't entirely Woodward's decision. LSU floated it to him and O wasn't doing his job. To act like O had no part in hiring Bo though is ignorant. They seriously entertained Bo when they hired Aranda. His name always came up as a strong candidate if Aranda was ever replaced.

It was more of a case where great DC prospects could see this was the beginning of the end for CEO. DCs like Mason could get a 1 or 2 year grace period signing on with a new staff, vs 1 and done at LSU.
