How often have you seen current players, recruits, and assistants publicly trash the current coach?
Two of those groups of people(17-22 year olds) have no business being involved or having an opinion on a business worth 100 million and with revenues in the tens of millions.

You think that you bunch are more qualified to make the hire?
This has nothing to do with the people you are talking about supporting the hire. This hire was the product of a non existent search and our AD being a fool.

Why wouldn't they?
If you play for a coach and they say he sucks because of the performance on the field, in a roundabout way that's a shot on the players too. Same for coaches.
If a recruit is interested in LSU and someone says that the coach sucks, then they can take that as criticism of their own decision making, so of course they're going to stick up for him. A criticism of Orgeron is a criticism of them, at least in their eyes. This isn't hard to figure out.
You ever have a good friend that's dating someone that's just horrible? How did it work out for you when you told them that this guy or woman is awful? They didn't take it too well did they? Same thing here.
I would trust the judgment of the people closest to Orgeron the least out of anyone. They're too close to view him objectively.

Current players, assistant coaches, former players, and recruits support O by public_enemy
assistant coaches support O because would like to stay employed.
Former players, and even though you didn't name them, the media support O because they want access.
the "geniuses" you reference have some concerns because 1) the AD shite hisself during the evaluating/hiring process, and 2)we can see the start of the good ole boy network creeping back in and that never works well.. see our current basketball situation.
and also those "geniuses" will still be around cheering for and watching long after all the above mentioned people are long gone.
doesn't it make sense now?

Than the players? Definitely.
Than Alleva? Considering there were candidates with better resumes that would've walked to BR from their current job that he didn't even interview, yes again.

How are you just as qualified? What experience do you have playing and coaching football? Did you talk to each candidate individually? Were you there when they were negotiating with jumbo and herman? How about the other candidates?

there were none.
thats the main gripe against this hire. no other candidates were even looked at. this falls on the AD.
