Coordinator “experience” needed for DC Hire?

Why is coordinator experience necessary? Every thread (it seems) has a list of people telling us that the latest guy to interview is awful because he has never been a DC at this specific level.

Because we have the softest fan base in the country who only get off on seeming things as apocalyptic.
The honest answer to this is that we have no idea. Could it be desperation? Sure.
Could he be a hidden gem? Sure
We won’t know until we see how the defense reacts to him and how quickly they pick up his defense. He’s got influence from quite a few places and has been a coordinator before. He has Louisiana ties as well.
I’m willing to give the guy a chance. If he impressed enough in the interview, I’m good with it
