He would be 72. That is a laughably stupid rumor.

We just aren't willing to buy off tens of millions of dollars in debt that an LSU grad got Saban into. If that wasn't a factor, we could match the $10 million a year. We got our 3 national titles out of Saban and the longest tenure of his career and we'll be forever grateful for that.

Frick paying off $25+ million in debt on top of a new contract if that was what it was going to take just to keep him for 3 or 4 more years. May as well groom someone who is hungry and talented and let them grow into the job while the cupboard is full.

Like I said, you can't compete with Texas so you're gonna just have to settle.

I'm starting to lose track of what's real and what's trolling. Is Saban really 20 million plus in the hole?

Hi gen,

quote:

Chicken allows baseless rumors to fly and everyone to fantasize and go crazy and troll, but only when it pertains to Saban/Bama. Hell he joins in on it himself. Any other time, that shite doesn't fly. This isn't really debatable.

But there's nothing we can do about it. It's an LSU-based site, and they're biased, and if we don't like it we can leave. And whining about it will just fuel their fire. So we might as well just shutup and either dwi or ignore it.

I'll go ahead and give a shout-out to whatever LSU fan wants to lurk this board and then try to quote this post later to prove that I'm scared and butthurt or something. Hello friend.

This was a doozie.

I really have no idea to tell you the truth. I did see an article where he apparently had some bad investments so I was giving the benefit of the doubt that it was true and he had 20+ mil in bad debt. IF that is true and Texas is paying it off and paying him the absurd offer being reported he'd be insane not to take it. NOBODY can compete with that but apparently Alabama is supposed to feel ashamed for not matching or exceeding that offer even though Alabama was "ruining college football" when they offered Saban an 8 year, 32 million dollar contract in early 2007. Now 10 years and $110 million is apparently NOT going to ruin college football. How convenient.

Texas will outbid Seriously though, they are gonna wind up raising coaching salaries through the roof with this shite and it is gonna cost EVERYBODY!

This

Of course with a coach like Saban it is an investment ... the return he generates is much greater than the investment.
