Riley only works if we have a competent DC

This is probably an Unpopular sentiment, but I'm in favor of maintaining the current defensive staff. I think they've shown that they can do when allowed to actually do their jobs with a modicum of autonomy.

My only concern with Riley is defense. I don’t think the guy has ever had a good d at OU, could be wrong but I don’t remember it. I hope he puts emphasis on the d if it is him.

The defense will come together.
Riley will lock down the offense and QB play. Elite offensive talent and the skill positions will be there. We won’t have to worry about that side of the ball anymore. Thank the gods.
LSU/Riley will attract defensive minds even if they only last few years at a time before moving on. In theory he should have a much easier time recruiting big time D players here and keeping the Louisiana guys home. Even a mediocre LSU defense would equate to more wins. But they won’t be mediocre for long.
