CLEVELAND (AP) — The Browns may strike quickly to get Chip Kelly, Oregon's coach who does everything in a hurry.

Kelly, whose up-tempo, fast-paced offense has captured the imagination of several NFL teams and maintained the Ducks' status as a national power, appears to be near the top of Cleveland's list of candidates to replace Pat Shurmur, fired earlier this week after going 9-23 in two seasons.

According to several reports, Browns CEO Joe Banner is already in Arizona and intends to interview Kelly, who is preparing the fifth-ranked Ducks for Thursday night's Fiesta Bowl against Kansas State. An interview could take place as early as Friday.

I wonder why Kelly is so attractive to NFL teams. He's going to be a disaster

ETA: that is, unless he makes some major changes to his philosophy

He'd be better off with the Panthers.

that up tempo offense isn't going to work in the NFL. there is no speed advantage, and for it to work you have to be in a rhythm on offense, maintain a high tempo.

I agree with you I think him with the panthers and cam newton would be great. Hed be the ideal fit in the nfl to run his offense with 2 good rb's.

The NFL punished Tressel. I wonder if they would do the same to Kelly if he bails and then Oregon gets hammered?

The nfl enforced the ncaas punishment. Kelly won't get a suspension.

He said he would alter his offense for the NFL. Main reason teams wants him is the way he handles players. He could hire an offensive coordinator to help him adjust his gameplan
