quote:Agreed. Who were we going to bring in besides Wilson? Even 2 weeks ago. Who? Who would have been able to establish trust or hold sway with any of the recruits more than Davis/Baker/Jones/Carter who already have relationships with the young men?
What's the hurry at this point? Hiring Brad White would not have had any impact on the early signing period and there's 7 weeks until NSD.
Why is it a bad thing if Kelly conducts actual in person interviews and thoroughly vets all of the candidates prior to making a decision?
The HC knows what he's doing.

But, Orgeron put together a really good class in the transition year. He identified the class as his #1 priority, and threw every ounce of resources and effort towards it
This is a terrible analogy. O also kept the majority of the staff together. Do you really think that didn’t make a difference? Look at ND. Are they bleeding recruits after Kelly’s departure? No. Guess why.
Continuity isn’t always a good thing. We definitely needed a staff shake-up this year after the way O drove the program off a cliff the last two seasons.

Completely salvaging this class with ESD now after a complete overhaul regime change just wasn’t a realistic goal. No real reason to expect that. I mean you do realize these are relationships coaches have been cultivating for years with these guys right ? You expect him to cover that much ground in just a matter of 2 weeks? Nah. If this is happening next class, sure let’s start to worry a bit
The staff hiring outside looking in seems a little wonky but we don’t really know what’s actually going on inside so I’ll just wait until all the pieces are in place before judging

Yeah, him lining up a backup plan at ND was just for show, right? Our 247 guys certainly disagreed with your assessment.
What you and others here continually miss because you are all too busy melting to pay attention is that making hires right now doesn’t mean that much for ESD. Look around. No program that just had a coach fired is having a great ESD rebound.
When those relationships from coaches who are let go are gone, you are going to lose some guys. You are left with the people who want to be at your program because of who you are and what you are. The new head coach will factor in holding the line with some guys, but the coordinators and position coaches can’t replace lost relationships in two weeks. They will have an impact on the late signing period, but all of you are vastly overestimating their impact on ESD.
It’s far more important to make good hires than to rush for little to no additional value on ESD.

Difference is he was bringing assistants to West Bend not Baton Rouge.

Do you think LSU is interested in Ruggiero? Moscona has said that's a name he heard
