And you would pick programs similar to Purdue. Why are those programs better anyway since you want to have this discussion? UCF pays as well or better.

Why are those programs better?

P5 > G5 That should pretty much be the end of the argument.

I'll go deeper though. Big Ten TV contracts are estimated to top $40mil per year, per school in the next 2 years. I guarantee you that the American doesn't have that kind of TV contract. The will equate in the near future to far better facilities and far better assistant pay.

The only thing UCF has over those programs is their location but just because its Florida doesn't mean that the rest of the P5 doesn't come down there and raid talent too.

So any power 5 job is better than any G5 job?

Pretty archaic way of thinking and is your opinion that is not shared by most. Do you think Chad Morris had no power 5 opportunities?

Yes, I think no P5 school offered Morris a HC spot.

I don't understand how this is an archaic way of thinking. Because of the sheer money involved in P5 TV contracts, it's actually a rather progressive way of thinking....that in 2-3 years most new and successful coaches at the P5 level will be making $4-5mil to start because they have the money to throw around whereas G5 schools won't and they'll need to outbid them to get top talent.

I know that AAC schools have money. P5 schools have more....there's no denying that. SEC is the behemoth in football. BIG is balanced with heavy football AND basketball revenues. It's going to be hard for anybody not in these conferences to keep up IMO just because of the sheer funding differences they will have in the future.

You're in denial. If Kansas called up Morris last year he would have hung up. Tubberville left Texas tech for cincinatti. Illinois is not paying their coach 4m in 2-3 years. Every article I've seen has ranked the ucf job ahead of Illinois.

Denial of what? Kansas is like the worst P5 job out there, I wouldn't coach there either. If he had a better P5 offer he'd have taken it though.

Tuberville is making like $3mil. UCF isn't paying their next coach that.

All BigTen teams will be paying their coaches and staffs big money here in the near future. BECAUSE THEY CAN AFFORD IT...and easily.

Purdue made over $70million last year in Athletics revenue...even with our shitty football program. UCF made almost $50 million...but took $22mil of that from university subsidies.

So basically a low end P5 school makes $70mil a year and an AAC school makes $28mil a year. If you can't see the difference in that...I can't help you. As P5 schools continue to make more and more and more money its going to put an increasing amount of strain on schools to try to subsidize their programs to try and keep up. At some point, the G5 universities will say enough is enough and that they aren't funding these sports teams out of their own pockets to keep up. Take a look at the link below. NO G5 schools are self funding AND keeping up with P5 revenues. The funding WILL stop.

LINK

Not so bold prediction....Purdue will hire Sumlin in the next 2 years and take over his A&M contract and both fan bases will rejoice.

I think he's going to end up at Mizzou.

Do not want. I like Babers too much for that.

I've heard him connected to Maryland as well. He's not their top candidate, but they have interest. He's a good coach, and BGSU is now the favorite to win the MAC, and he went unbeaten against the Big Ten this year.

You could do a lot worse.

Him with that Haskins QB recruit they have coming in would be magic. He is the shot in the arm that that offense needs.

ETA:
Maryland is still in the wrong side of the conference for any huge improvement, but they have the money if needed and nearby recruiting base to turn it up.

He's a good fit as a HC for a lower tier P5 school. Illinois, Maryland and Mizzou would all be good fits IMO.
