Urban Meyer's wife...if she says no, then Les has to stay in the SEC.

I'm going to go with the biggest obstacles being...

1) UM wont fire RR this year

2) UM hasnt offered him the job

Disagree. UM will have the option to fire RR w/ cause and avoid the buyout. Reason: Not filing the practice logs is considered a major violation by the NCAA and the school's internal investigation confirmed that these documents do not exist.

Those documents that were brought up in the audit this week are supposedly only required by UofM to make sure we are complying with NCAA regulations. Don't know if that would be a major enough offense to be considered a violation of his contract. I do find it interesting the University chose to release this information this week of all weeks though, which sort of leads me to believe they could use this to can him without having to pay his buyout. Official findings have not been made by the NCAA yet, but I'll say this...I think I'd be even more pissed off to hear we violated practice times and still are producing this sh*t show week after week.

I read somewhere that by definition, failure to file the practice logs constitutes a major violation.

It is apparently specifically defined.

ya but what I'm saying is that the logs that were in question were not NCAA required-it's a University of Michigan requirement only. Therefore he's technically not in violation of NCAA standards. School standards, definitely yes (although the logs were produced the following day) so who knows what they are going to do. These logs from my understanding after speaking with other UofM alums (unless we are being given wrong information) are just an extra precaution put in place by the University and are not being used/nor are they required as part of the NCAA investigation.

I beleive from everything that I have read that your info is incorrect.

There is an NCAA investigation set to wrap in December about exceeding NCAA limits on practice. The investigation was prompted by reports of former players. UM is expecting negative results from the NCAA ruling.

I'd say LSU not wanting to let him go. Dude has been in charge during the most successful period in LSU history and is currently ranked in the top 10.

Thats not what I'm talking about though. I am talking about the story that was released this week about University practice logs not being filed. Those practice logs in question were a University requirement only and have no relation to the NCAA investigation whatsoever. So far, no information regarding the NCAA investigation has been released and isn't expected to until December.

I think his point is that the absence of the practice logs creates an air of suspicion.

Former players tell the media that RRod exceeded allowed practice time. UM requires RRod and the coaches to document practice time. The NCAA launches an investigation.

Well, what do you know? The practice logs don't exist.

It's a little too convenient, and in my opinion, this is the ace of spades for the UM athletic department if they want to cut bait with RRod without paying his buyout.

I agree wholeheartedly that this could be the universities out and those missing logs creates suspicion, however, I just don't know that they will take it because the logs that were in question this week were University required only and have since been turned in. If nothing is found in the NCAA investigation, my question would be is this violation of University requirements serious enough to put termination in motion, or is it just NCAA violations the University is concerned with. Michigan hates to have their name dragged through the mud, but they also hate to be reactionary. As far as I know the appropriate NCAA logs for 08 were in fact filed on time (whether they are accurate that is a different story that has yet to be determined). Just saying though if our on field performance can be any indication, I don't really know that anything damning will come from this investigation.

btw. I read that albom article earlier and I brushed it off. When Lloyd Carr was retiring he told us to be careful what we wished for. When we hired RR he told us to be careful what we wished for. Now that there is a faction that wants him out this year he writes in this article to be careful what we wish for. He's a sensationalist. They all write articles about this audit and blow it up and make it a big deal but then say we should definitely give him another year. So which is it ya know?
