Yes I know his record but I also know that he has ZERO Sec titles to date and no National Titles. All of you begging for him to stay, will you feel that way if the Tigers fall to Arkansas or in the SEC title game. I have mixed feelings because I don't know who LSU would hire if he left. I pray it is not Spurrier, he is done....BTW, I don't think Michigan offers him the job...

Given that Skip is on his way out and will not have a significant input and given the weakness of the chancellor and given Lombardi's very close relationship w/ Spurrier, I would guess that it's SOS's to turn down.

certainly.

ehhhh, year 3. he has 2 very large bowl wins. one of which was the sugar bowl, that counts for something, and given the number of wins he has to date he gets a pass for not having the trophies.

if you know lsu fans the way i know lsu fans, then you know he could be the best today, and the crappiest saturday morning if we lose.

Summed up well. I think Les is a good coach, LSU can probably do better, but no one really comes to mind.

However, it does bother me that we've got multiple threads recruiting people to beg for Miles to stay, when the reality is our team is not playing well, and hasn't since the Virginia Tech game ... if we were, we'd be blowing out every team we play.

Absolutely. The man has a record of performance here over 2 3/4 years that cannot be washed away in a single (or even "one more" in the minds of the nega-tigers) loss. And if it were to UGA in the SECCG, it might not even be a bad performance by Miles, because UGA is a really good team that could get hot enough to beat us even on one of our good days.

Miles has done a great job. Yes, there could be someone out there that would do better, but no one in their right mind would ever take the over at 32-5, with any coach at any program.

If you disagree, then I'll lay $20 on any coach you pick in Division 1A not doing better than 32-5 in their next 37 games.

The issue really isn't "can we do better than Miles?". That might be possible....

But the real question, for me, is, "what are the odds that we end up doing much, much worse than Miles"? If you look at the history of replacing a successful coach, at pretty much any school in the country - it's screwed up more often than not. We're more likely to get the next Hallman or Archer than the next Saban or Miles. And that's what scares me.
