I find an audiobook has to be a little more superficially engaging than physical books I read. David Sedaris, Christopher Buckley, and Thomas Harris have kept my interest in the past. Thinking about trying a Dan Brown for an upcoming road trip.

I just started my membership back up and added an additional 3 credits for $35. $50 for 4 books, not too shabby.
Audible is funny because the price, $15/mo for one book, in isolation seems kinda pricey for 6-12 hours of entertainment.
Then I remember that a sit down lunch or cheap bottle of bourbon is about the same, and I'll shite or piss that out within 6-12 hours.

If you want a funny well written low brow humor series then try caverns and creatures series by robert bevan read by robert sleep. It is about a group of dumbasses from gulfport mississippi that get sucked into a dungeon and dragon type of world. Hilarious.

I am an avid audiobook listener. I have a lengthy commute and drive a decent bit for work, so I'm in the car a good bit.
I started listening to podcasts in law school and then started listening to lectures to prepare for the bar. The lectures were a touch slow, so I sped them up. Once I finished the bar and went back to podcasts, I couldn't listen to them at normal speed. It's too slow.
I got into audiobooks once I got into the real world and started listening to them on a faster pace. Like 1.25, maybe 1.5. That was years ago. Every four or five months, I'd slowly move up the audio speed. At this point, I listen to books at 3x the speed. I can go slower if I need too, but I can't go under 2x at this point. It's just too slow.
But with the time I have in the car and going as fast as I do, I can't afford Audible. I'd be broke getting that many books. I listen to Overdrive. I have a library card from EBR and Nashville (my SIL lives there and I use her number). This opens up a lot of options and it is free. You have a waiting list for the popular stuff, but I go in an waitlist a bunch of stuff and stuff randomly appears in the app. Typically, I have 3-4 books on standby.
Before spending money on Audible, I'd check out Overdrive. I also recommend speeding it up. It allows you to listen to more, faster.

I enjoy audible. However, I’m only able to focus on biographies, self help or other non-fiction types of books if I’m listening. What’s nice about it is you can exchange or return books if you’ve listened and didn’t like it. You can also pause or cancel your subscription at any time.
Using hoopla or other library based audiobook sources is also nice... and free but the book has to be available.
