By Maurice Druon. Anyone read these? Had my eye on them for awhile since knowing GRRM is a big fan, but I was wondering what to expect if I give them a shot. How would they compare to something like ASoIaF? Obviously I know it's more historical.

Game of Thrones if you took out all the fantastical elements. A lot of politics. Still very enjoyable. I've read the first five. Keep dragging my arse on the last two. I mean they're not hard reads.

I read the first two and enjoyed both. Obviously not as epic as ASOIaF, the political aspect is very similar to GOT. They're also pretty easy reads if you wanted to give the first book a shot.
