Story of an American family on a cargo ship on its way to New Orleans that was torpedoed by a German submarine about 40 miles south of Morgan City. Gives a lot of info on how German u-boats operated in the Gulf and how the family survived the ordeal by being rescued by Morgan City shrimpers picking up survivors in the water...the original Cajun Navy in a way. I’ve never heard of this story until recently. Very cool piece of local WW2 history for those who enjoy the subject. Do recommend.
