He wrote for Outdoor Life and his stories were always in the back. I just found three of his books. He had some funny characters including Rancid Crabtree - on old mountain man, Retch Sweeny - his hunting and fishing partner and many other. The stories are all 3-4 pages each and pretty funny. His first book: The Canoes, Don't They?”

I used to snag the new Outdoor Life from the school library as soon as it arrived. Always enjoyed McManus’ columns, and I think I read at least one of those collections.

He had 3-4 book with collections of his short stories. Absolutely loved them growing up.

I used to love reading him in Field & Stream and Outdoor life. I've got several books. Just bought 2 on ebook that I already owned because they were on sale for $1.99. My uncle turned me on to him. Back in the day he would photocopy them from the Nicholls Library a long time ago. He made me cry from laughing more than once. They guy could write.

Pat was one of my favorite writers. His humor just hits my funny bone the right way.
"A Fine and Pleasant Misery" is probably my favorite collection.
