Picked this up over the weekend and I cannot put it down.

Story is so fantastic you almost have to remind yourself at times it's a non-fiction.

Gripping and haunting read. Anyone else checked it out?

Read it recently. Pretty fascinating history but the writing was rather workmanlike. The main twist in the history was shocking for sure. It's hard to believe that stuff was real life like you said. it seems more likely to be the plot of some western pulp novel. That whole outlaw era is extremely interesting, I kind of wish he expanded more.

Thought it was very interesting, but sad. Liked the information on the beginnings of the modern FBI. This book led me to Lost City of Z which was pretty good, too IMO
