When did the Tlaixlu start worshipping Leto?

They spent the entire fourth book trying to kill him. Then suddenly he is their Idol? It doesn't work that way

I always assumed that after his death, through the 1500 years between, their thinking on Leto II changed somehow. 1500 years is a long time, and things change.

Also the Bene Gesserit's Missionaria Protectiva may have planted that seed a long time ago.

Though I don't think the books ever spelled this out for us.

It was a complete 180. Don't think the Bene Gesserit could influence them as shown in the book. They knew little about them, hence their interest.

The Bene Gesserit (Taraza maybe? Its been a while) was able to convince the Bene Tleilax that she followed their religion because she recognized the Missionaria Protectiva statements that Waff was making.

The Bene Gesserit didn't often influence directly, but rather by placing seeds in societies that they could use later on.

Like I said, it wasn't explicit in the book, but that's the feeling I got: Bene Gesserit machinations mixed with a 1500 year time frame may have changed how the Tleilaxu thought about Leto II.

Well, they were always zealots, and into world domination. And going from 3500 years of structure and peace under Leto to complete chaos and the breakdown of society over 1500 years after he died, it wouldn't be that unrealistic to see them come to idealize him as a sort of totalitarian master they were hoping to mimic.
