He who fights monsters

Really enjoyed DCC so thought I would try this. Similar type of litrpg. On the second book now and enjoying them so far. If you are a Carl fan, you might enjoy these.

I gave it a try because I enjoyed DCC that much but gave up about halfway through. Just couldn't get through it - a lot of it had me rolling my eyes.
I did try Kaiju Battlefield Surgeon though by Matt Diniman (through the Soundbooth Theatre app) and that's been scratching my DCC itch.

I enjoyed this book, but it's hella dark, and extremely grim/brutal. Not really the same tone as DCC.
As far as the OP goes, I enjoy He who fights with monsters a good bit, though I know the people that don't like it or wind up dropping it seem to dislike the main character and roll their eyes at his antics.
If probably suggest Beware of Chicken for someone looking for similar humor to DCC.

I tried but couldn't get into it and I am a huge DCC fan. An Unexpected Hero is pretty good to hold off the DCC shakes. It is also narrated by Jeff Hayes.

Slogged through the first he who fights with monsters. Won’t get book 2.
Dominion of blades is the next Matt diniman one I read and it’s a tier below dcc. If you can get past the main character being trans, it’s could be worth a shot.
Defiance of the fall is the litrpg I’m on now and much better than he who fights with monsters.

I gave up after about 10 hours. It was boring
