If it's fiction, not so much. If I caught something glaring in a non-fiction book, I wouldn't rush to read that author again. Either way, I don't think I'd be irritated by it

You'll want to avoid everything Gore Vidal ever wrote. It annoys me to no end when he's referred to as a "historian".
