Clive Cussler - Dirk Pitt novels
Started reading them in order, finished about 10

Fun books but the sexism/homophobia is amazing . Particularly the 70s/80s early ones.

Dirk will smack women around calling them twits and it instantly makes them horny, kinda Bondish.

Also queer and fag*ot are tossed around a good bit.

Fun stuff that couldnt be published today.

They are incredibly formulaic, but fun

Bought a lot of them of paperback on ebay a few years ago for like 20 bucks .

They were ok. Thanks to the Sahara movie.. I not picture Mconaghey in the role as I read the books

Nope, horrible casting.

Burt Reynolds in his prime would have been a great Dirk Pitt

They are mindless fun that gets very repetitive after the first few books. I'd suggest Robert Ludlum and Jack Higgins for better authors in the same genre and time period.

Good fun summer reading, but once you've read one, you've pretty much read them all.
