Miami Dolphins Owner Doesn’t Hold Back On Formula 1 vs. NFL Crowds
© Allen Eyestone / USA TODAY NETWORK
During an interview with Andrew Sorkin of CNBC, Miami Dolphins owner Stephen Ross was asked if he’s made more money on F1 than the Dolphins. His response was as honest as it gets...
quote:

“F1 has been great,” Ross replied. “We get more attendance for F1 races for three days than the entire (Dolphins) season tickets that we sold.”

Entirely different set of demographics involved for sure. It's a rich man's world.

Gonna be a little mean here. Miami doesn’t support football because 90 percent of the population are Hispanic. Like it or not that’s the answer. The Canes were drawing 30k in the 80s and 90s when they were winning championships by the bushel.

Miami has bad football fans. This is well known.

I can’t imagine sitting and watching a race, just like golf. But NFL is way too commercialized.

Also, he finds the crowds a polo matches to be "a cut above" those at local t-ball games.

What’s the actual race like? I like F1 and would like to go see it in person if you can actually see the race.

They go by too fast to take a photo. I really enjoyed the F1 at Austin a few years back.
Crowd was interesting

In Austin, there are places where you can see most of the track....The track is over 3 miles long though. 1st time we were at the end of the back straight....making passes at 200+ mph before a left hand turn. Last time at the start / finish line, less views of the track but start / finish was fun....TV screens everywhere. Also can move around during practices, qualifying, etc...
