According to a new report, the Packers are considering what many would consider an “unspeakable” change to Lambeau Field. Green Bay is considering a naming rights deal, which would change the name of the legendary venue...
quote:

In a recent interview with Ben Fischer of Sports Business Journal, Packers president and CEO Ed Policy shared that he was considered about his franchise’s ability to compete moving forward. The Packers could be at a disadvantage, given that they are owned by the fans, while private equity money is being funneled into other teams.

“If you think about, any other team, they’ve got deep-pocketed owners, most of them are worth significantly more than that, and they could sell less than 10% of their team, give up no controlling interest, and raise a heck of a lot more than that,” Policy told Fischer.

“We’re soon to be the only stadium without naming rights,” Policy said. “That’s not a threshold we’re looking to cross any time soon, but we might be a little more aggressive with some of the other entitlement inventory we just hadn’t taken advantage of in the past, including things like training facility entitlements and the Titletown campus.”

Miller Stadium at Lambeau Field, or Lambeau Field presented by Amazon, is something that could be coming soon.

“Finance and economics really don’t play into our football decision-making right now, and it’s my job to ensure that it never does,” Policy told Fischer. “Given the pace that the expenses have accelerated over the past few years, if we find ourselves falling behind, it’s going to be really hard to catch up. So, we have to keep ourselves in a position where we’re not falling behind.”

I don't think it's greed. It's reality. The Packers will be left behind by other teams' deep pocketed investors in competing for the best players. What is so "unspeakable" about getting sponsors and their millions of dollars?

Team owners don't have investors. They ARE the investors. And every single one of them own/control a billion dollar plus asset. With the exception of the Packers. They are a non-profit corporation with a few hundred thousand "investors" who worthless stock. The Packers only need to initiate another stock sale and fill their coffers as they did in 2022.
