Former QB Kurt Warner was a religious guy/player in the NFL. So, I'd think he knows a thing or two about faith in the locker room. Warner is a Tebow supporter, but talked a bit to the Arizona Republic about the Broncos' QB needing to tone down his Jesus-ness around the game....
quote:

“There’s almost a faith cliche, where (athletes) come out and say, ‘I want to thank my Lord and savior,’” “As soon as you say that, the guard goes up, the walls go up, and I came to realize you have to be more strategic.”

“You can’t help but cheer for a guy like that,” Warner said of Tebow. “But I’d tell him, ‘Put down the boldness in regards to the words, and keep living the way you’re living. Let your teammates do the talking for you. Let them cheer on your testimony.’

“I know what he’s going through, and I know what he wants to accomplish, but I don’t want anybody to become calloused toward Tim because they don’t understand him, or are not fully aware of who he is. And you’re starting to see that a little bit.”
I like Tebow, but I think Warner has a point.

to answer this:
"I've never understood athletes who believe a "God" loves them enough to "help" them score a touchdown, basket, run, etc., because it implies that the same "God" hates the poor."
I think God blesses folks like Tebow, and Curt Warner, to allow them into the public eye, so there is some degree of influence and example for those people who would look up to such an athlete. God wants testimony in every walk of life, from the poor to the rich.

Kurt Warner is a class act. He should take Tebow under his wing

That's a lot better than Plummer's dumb comments.
