Now that Tom Benson owns the New Orleans Hornets, he wants to change the name like all of us do and intends to do so...
quote:

“We need to find a name like (Jazz),” Benson said, referring to New Orleans first NBA team that relocated to Salt Lake City in 1979. “Whether we can get that or let us use that, you’ve got to know we’re working on it. We’d like to change it tomorrow. We have not gotten that approved, but we’re not letting up on it, either. Because we’ve got a good relationship with the commissioner and his people and we’re going to be on them daily to do something.”
There's a chance to do something special and cool with the name. Hope he succeeds.

Don't call them the Louisiana --anything, New Orleans has to be the name + something from the swamp, if we can't have the Jazz back. Why should Utah care ? They don't even drink coffee, and certainly do not listen to Jazz music.

Utah's owners were open to returning the name 10 years ago. Hopefully they still are.

It's not like "Jazz" really fits Utah anyway, and they don't have much of a tradition with it.

Having the Jazz name would be amazing, but a miracle would need to happen. How about the New Orleans Rougarou - the Cajun Swamp Monster
