Why does a team whose colors are green and gold have silver uniforms?

These are ugly. Their best uniforms were the gold helmets with center white stripe and green stripes on either side. Green jersey with Baylor spelled out on front and gold pants with similar stripe setup as helmet.

Should have outlined the BU on the helmets in green. Can't really see it.
