On his The Big Podcast, Shaquille O'Neal acknowledged feeling some resentment towards today's players making more money who don't have his Hall of Fame credentials...
quote:

Per Spotrac, O'Neal made around $286.3 million in career earnings over 19 seasons. He peaked at garnering $27.7 million in 2004-05. Before free agency begins Friday, 38 players are set to receive more than $28 million next season.

The real.problem is that they could cap that shite in some way and actually lower the costs for fans. It doesn't help that the fans are stupid enough to pay for those prices of tickets, etc

Shaq's peak earnings was in 2004-2005 at 27.7 million a season with the Lakers. In today's dollars, that is about 41.6 million a season. That's not too bad. Shaq needs to understand it isn't a dollar for dollar comparison.

Shaq would have easily been a max guy. He can thank China for the lucrative contracts of today. Neither the players, owners, or the league executives want to cut off the drug known as China.

I can remember when Curtis Strange was the PGA’s Million Dollar Man because he was the first to win $1.0MM in a year. Now, that isn’t even the winner’s share in most tourneys
