LSU outlasts Mississippi State, 30-26, in thriller

Big plays and a late goal line stand gave No. 7 LSU a hard fought 30-26 victory over Mississippi State in Starkville.
LSU's defense came up big when it needed to, stopping Mississippi State at the four inch line on 4th down with less than two minutes to go in the game to preserve a 30-24 lead.
On the ensuing drive, LSU opted for a safety on the 4th down punt formation, which gave the Bulldogs one more chance. LSU was able to stop the Bulldogs on downs to earn the hard fought victory.
LSU improved to 4-0 (2-0 in the SEC), while Mississippi State fell to 2-2 (1-1 in the SEC).
Chad Jones was the player of the game, scoring on a 93-yard punt return in the 4th quarter, making 7 tackles and swatting down a sure touchdown on 3rd down during LSU's thrilling goal line stand.
QB Jordan Jefferson was 15 of 28 for 233 yards and two touchdown passes to Brandon Lafell.
