LSU fullback Tory Carter met with the media this week and was asked about his "GATA" tattoo, which he says stands for "Get After Them Aggressively".

Well, according to Jacques Doucet, "GATA" actually stands for "Get After Their Asses," a saying that was adopted by Georgia Southern years ago.

Carters father James played for the Eagles back in the '80s and won a national championship with the 1986 team, according to Doucet.

Tory Carter is a whacko, in the most affectionate use of the term possible.

And where did GA Southern get it?

That's right.

It isn't new. Originally coined by Erk Russell, former Defensive Coordinator for the University of Georgia Bulldogs. Promoted defensive aggressiveness in pursuing the ball carrier. Taken to Georgia Southern College in 1982 upon reinstatement of their football program.
