LSU coach Lane Kiffin joined the "In the Bayou With Tyrann Mathieu" podcast this week and provided an update on quarterback Sam Leavitt.

Leavitt, a transfer from Arizona State, missed most of spring practice as he recovered from a foot injury, but is pretty much "full-strength now," according to Kiffin.

quote:

“He's doing well,” Kiffin said. “He's been out there and pretty much at full strength now. Really good arm, really smart. I mean, he's in there just grinding all the time on stuff, an NFL-mindset quarterback from a preparation standpoint.

“Now he’s just got to put everything together in Year 1. A little bit late because now he's just finally cleared.”

"There are a lot of new pieces around; it's going to be a big summer and fall camp."

You have no idea how good Leavitt is. You're just hyping your personal favorite.

Not sure about that, but Leavitt definitely won't be the one. Dude is not ready for prime time
