No. 6 LSU (1-0) travels to Austin this weekend to face No. 9 Texas (1-0) in a huge showdown at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium. Kickoff is set for 6:30 pm CT on ABC.

LSU's overall record against Texas is 7-9-1. The Tigers won the first meeting between the two schools 14-0 in Baton Rouge in 1896. The Longhorns won the most recent matchup 35-20 in the 2002 Cotton Bowl.

LSU's most recent trip to Austin was 1954.

The Tigers record against the Longhorns in Austin is 1-7-1.

One could argue that Texas and LSU are about as similar as it gets in terms of history of ups and downs, NCs, importance of football to the state/school. Reflected in the fairly even head to head. Texas had the advantage of being the dominant program in it's conference for decades, the SWC.

Whatever historical similarities may exist are somewhat irrelevant now. We have dominated the states around us in football thru the last 3 decades. Texas, Mississippi and Alabama. And Horns are up next.
