It was announced on Monday that LSU senior safety Ronald Martin is one of 15 semifinalists for the Jim Thorpe Award given to college football's top defensive back. Per

Martin, who had the game-clinching interception in the Tigers' 10-7 upset victory over Ole Miss, is the Tigers' third leading tackler with 48 stops. His interception Saturday was his second of the season and the fifth of his career.

Three other SEC players were among the semifinalists, including Alabama safety Landon Collins and cornerback Senquez Golson and safety Cody Prewitt of Ole Miss.
Former LSU players Patrick Peterson and Morris Claiborne won the Jim Thorpe award as Tigers.

The winner will be named Dec. 11.
