The Advocate is reporting that LSU tight end Caleb Roddy and defensive back Xavier Lewis will not return to the football team.
quote:

Roddy, a Denham Spring native, did not play in 2017 and missed most of practice throughout the year for unknown reasons. The 6-5, 276-pounder signed with the Tigers as a defensive end before a move to tight end. He served as LSU’s No. 3 tight end as a true freshman in 2016.

Roddy removed all mention of LSU in his Twitter bio and posted a cryptic message Wednesday, the start of the spring semester: “Next chapter,” his message said.

Lewis, a LaPlace native out of East St. John, played in four games this season as a redshirt junior. He did not dress out for at least the final six games of the 2017 season, plummeting down the depth chart. He began the season as a rotational player at LSU’s nickel cornerback position. Lewis, who signed in 2015 ranked as high as the 13th-best cornerback prospect, practiced in spots over the final two months of the year, but missed most of drills for unknown reasons.

Lewis looked really bad in action earlier this year so I am not surprised to see the attrition.

Yes, but they can't be used to sign more than 25 for this class.

Lewis is not surprising. Lost in the logjam at DB. But I was expecting Roddy to be a solid contributor one day down the road
