Emily Lane with NOLA.com reports that LSU defensive back Jalen Mills was given an April 8 trial date for a charge of misdemeanor simple assault related to a woman's accusation that he punched her.
quote:

One of the team's standout players, Mills was arrested in June after a woman who claims he punched her outside his Highland Road apartment picked him out of a lineup.

Mills' attorney Brent Stockstill pleaded not guilty to the charge on Mills' behalf in October.
Stockstill says it was actually Mills' girlfriend who threw the punch, and that the victim gave multiple conflicting accounts about what happened.

Mills was originally charged with second-degree battery, but the charge was reduced to a misdemeanor in August.

I can't imagine being that dumb count and not dropping these charges. She was out late, drunk, banging on doors, etc. Who gives a frick who hit anyone? If she doesn't show up, it doesn't happen.

This is the biggest horseshite charge in a long time that will make it all the way to trial.

My God, a human got hit after causing a physical confrontation at someone else's home.
