La'el Collins Shines Early At The NFL Combine
by Staff Reporter
February 20, 20155 Comments
Former LSU offensive tackle La'el Collins, who spoke with the media on Wednesday, began his on-the-field workouts at the NFL Combine Friday and looked impressive early on.
In the 40-yard dash, Collins ran a 5.13 and 5.16 with 10-yard splits of 1.81 and 1.86.
His 5.13 time gives him the 3rd best 40 time of all offensive tackles at the combine and is tied for 7th with all offensive linemen.
Jim Kleinpeter with NOLA.com reports that Collins has dropped weight since the football season in order to prepare himself for the NFL Combine and help his chances of playing left tackle at the next level:

It's likely Collins' goal is to appear more athletic than he has in the past, which gives him a better shot at playing left tackle in the NFL. Most analysts have him at right tackle or moving to guard since left tackles requires athletcism to deal with long, quick and fat pass rushers. His weight has dropped from 321 during his senior season to 305 over a 6-feet-4 1/2 frame at the Combine.
