LSU head coach Lane Kiffin admitted Monday that he has been torn over the possibility of adding former professional players to the Tigers' roster.

Kiffin said he took the issue directly to LSU's player leadership committee, asking what they wanted to do if the players were ultimately allowed to join the roster.

According to Kiffin, the response was unanimous and emphatic: "If they can help us win, bring them."

The LSU coach said the players understood that the current team has practiced together and worked throughout the offseason, but also recognized that roster competition is part of how things work at the next level.

Kiffin said hearing that response made him "feel a little better" about an issue he had been going back and forth on. For now, LSU will continue to wait for further guidance before determining its next move.

When you really sit down and look at each situation. It’s the right thing to do. For the players and LSU.

Opposing fan bases and the media need blame and drama. LSU is always an easy target.

LSU is always an easy target, because the fan base is so thin skinned.

I’ll be at the game, but college football is so fricked. I don’t love it like I used to.

Stay with the players that got you here and let the pros go. If you can't win with your hand picked players that have worked their asses of in camp then you don't deserve to win. He's the coach and the decision maker, don't hide behind your team.

Why isn’t anyone concerned about Harlem Berry. He got his position taken by a player out of the portal. What’s the difference in Deuce Geralds coming in and taking a starting position? What about the senior QB in High School that lost his position to the hotshot freshman? What about the #1 recruit that transferred to a GA high school for his senior year. That dude is being paid by Texas Tech as we speak.

He better be pretty certain if he has taken it this far.

Lane never owns anything. It’s always somebody else said it was a good idea. Now he’s got the leadership council to take the blame. They told me to take this job, my dad would have said this, I’m not making these decisions, just stand up and say I’m doing this because dammit I’m the coach, this is my program and I make my own decisions.

He is answering a question on a lot of people’s minds: what do the players who have been toiling in the hot sun think about these new guys waltzing in and taking over playing spots?
