LSU Interim head coach Frank Wilson spoke with reporters on Monday and provided several quarterback updates ahead of Saturday's game against Western Kentucky.

Wilson said that Michael Van Buren's first career start vs. Arkansas was "imperfect," but was happy with the way he settled in and performed when it mattered.

Van Buren went 21-of-31 for 221 yards with one touchdown vs. the Razorbacks. He also ran for 36 yards on 10 carries.

Wilson was asked if Garrett Nussmeier would dress out and play on Saturday, but didn't have an answer yet. He also spoke about everything Nussmeier has pushed through this season, from an injury standpoint.

"I know he will want to (play), but we will defer to our trainers and doctors," Wilson said. "I don't have those answers just yet."

"To say he played 'courageously' throughout the year is probably an understatement. He pushed through a lot to give the team his best."

Wilson revealed that backup quarterback Colin Hurley has taken a temporary leave of absence from the team for personal matters.

With Nussmeier's and Hurley's status unknown, running back Ju'Juan Johnson is the backup plan behind Van Buren.
