Former LSU tight end DeSean Smith has signed with the Carolina Panthers, according to the team. Per

CHARLOTTE – The Panthers have signed rookie tight end Desean Smith, who participated as a tryout player in Carolina’s rookie minicamp.

The 6-foot-5, 245-pounder posted 19 catches for 346 yards and one touchdown during his career at Louisiana State. To make room on the roster, the Panthers waived offensive tackle Pearce Slater.
