A big congratulations goes out to the former LSU offensive lineman Alan Faneca who was elected to the Pro Football Hall Of Fame on Saturday in his 6th year as a finalist.

The New Orleans native played at LSU from 1994 to 1997 and was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the first round of the 1998 NFL Draft. He played 10 seasons with the Steelers and won the Super Bowl XL with the team in 2006. He went on to play two seasons with the New York Jets and finished his career with the Arizona Cardinals.

Faneca was selected to nine consecutive Pro Bowls and played in 14 career playoff games, He missed just one game in his entire career.

I remember when he left LSU early . Such a talent. His incredible block on the longest run in Super Bowl history made all us former lineman proud. Geaux Alan! Thanks for being a Tiger

He and Kevin Mawae had almost identical careers. 2 of the best to ever play their positions in both college and the NFL. Took both close to the same amount of years to get in the hall. Had they been QBs or RBs with the same credentials, they would’ve been no doubt 1st ballot HOFers. But hey.... They’re in!
