Gus Stark / LSU Athletics
During his weekly radio show on Wednesday night, head coach Ed Orgeron revealed some of his potential starters on special teams and talked about how they want to score more points and be more creative with that unit.

For Kickoffs, Orgeron said his top options are running back John Emery Jr. and wide receivers Trey Palmer and Kayshon Boutte

For punt returns, Orgeron said it will be either cornerback Derek Stingley Jr. or Trey Palmer.

THAT is the RIGHT DUDES. Speed & open field skills there. Palmer housed one against some small school last year.

Coach leaves no doubt he wants to be aggressive in all phases of the game.

I hope Palmer is the PR. Stingley does not need to risk injury out there

Patrick Peterson returned punts. Tyrann Mathieu returned punts. You put your playmakers back there and let them do their thing!

I think they were telling Stingley to basically just catch the punt last year because the offense was so awesome. I have a feeling he can probably be an explosive return man based on what I heard about him in high school. Palmer looked awesome though last year in his limited time.

LSU has a history of putting their best players on special teams (Peterson, Matthieu, sting, Devin white, Odell, Jarvis landry). Knock on wood but it’s never led to an injury, and often makes our overall special teams unit one of the best in the country. I love keeping those elite athletes on the field as much as possible
