Ed Orgeron: Leonard Fournette Is Day-To-Day, Not Sure If He Will Play vs. UF

LSU head coach Ed Orgeron said that Leonard Fournette's status is "day-to-day" and is not sure if he will play Saturday vs. Florida.

Fournette was not able to practice last week and missed LSU's game against Missouri as he recovers from an lingering ankle injury.

I will be happy if he is ready in time for the playoffs. You know LSU is going on a 8-0 run here.

High ankle sprains and linger for months. He just needs to rest it. It makes know sense to keep aggravated a still injured ankle. Lsu has enough depth, quality depth to be fine at the position.

I hope he really is OK, but I'm starting to wonder of this ankle injury will "linger" until the end of the season.

Someone I heard make a comment that he didn't look like he was playing as hard as last year. Then later I heard someone else make virtually the same comment almost like he was playing it safe.

I told my dad this same thing during the Auburn game that we got to watch together. I am not going to say he wasn't trying because he doesn't have heart, because I don't think he'd do that to his team. To me, it looked more like he was tired of being Miles' work horse the whole game basically. And now, with this issue of how long they were practicing, it seems as though that may have been the case. I think he was worn out, mentally and physically. And that's coming from someone who supported Miles to the end.

Is there any indication Les Miles was his guy, so Fournette is taking the firing hard? I remember stories of Lf#7 parents always having meetings with Miles to discuss his future and workload. Any chance he is just taking it easy now that Miles is gone and championship aspirations are gone?

I think the expression on his face during that heated discussion with Miles towards the end of the Auburn game was telling. Fournette was not happy with Les Miles' play calling and coaching strategy. Last year he rested him when he should have been playing him, costing him the Heisman. This year he ran him into the ground with a "Running Fournette cures all my problems" mentality. Leonard had had enough. At the current rate, he would've sustained a long term injury and could have lost him valuable spots in the draft. That conversation was all the AD and boosters needed to see.
