Ed Orgeron Explains Why He's Sticking With Danny Etling Over Myles Brennan

Alot more in a QB competition than completing passes. I have confidence in Canada's ability of picking a qb.

The fact that he hasn't beat out Etling must mean he's not very good...yet!

I am not sure why this is even a question...we have 30% of the season ahead of us and I want to see us win every damn one of those games. Based on what I have seen, Etling is easily the best quarterback on the team and gives us our best chance to win those games. We have heard time and time again over the last decade our "fans" complaining that we were not playing the guy who gave us the best chance to win...now that we are doing that, we are still complaining?

How are you going to explain DJ Chark, JD Moore, Gage, Corey Thompson, Christian LaCouture, and the other Sr's who are going out, that we are going to risk winning the next few games and providing them with the opportunities that come with winning the next few games for the future?!?!? Those Sr's poured their heart and sole out for this team and for these opportunities. Chark's draft stock could be drastically influenced by these last few games. Some of the Sr's came back to win football games, not to give way to the future. This is their team, they have earned it, let them finish what they started.

We had the same issue back when Mettenberger transferred. He wasn't ready and it showed his first year as a starter. It takes time to adjust to the college game, especially the speed and the level of SEC defenses. Let the two young guys develop. Keep them healthy. Look at the success of NFL QBs that start early vs those who have time to adjust to the NFL in a backup role. Rare that the ones immediately thrown into the fire succeed.

i'm honestly tired of the "it's not fair to the underperforming senior" excuse. couldn't beat troy and couldn't muster up more than 7 against miss st as well as not hitting deep passes that were there against alabama. and that QB has a death grip on the position...

Okay. For all of you repeat complainers, Etling is the starter. Brennan is not! Very simple. How many times does the coach have to answer the same damn question? Brennan is not ready, nor should he risk injury. Get over it and move forward. I think the coaches know a helluva lot more about their team than we do. Last I checked, none of us are getting paid millions of dollars to win. I think they certainly put their best players on the field based on how they perform in practice. Relax, this time next year Brennan will be the man and you’ll probably be screaming to have him replaced!

I can't wait til the season is over so we can move on to a new QB situation.

Why would we replace him for the next 3 games with someone who might not even be the starter next year. Right now he might be but I'm hoping we can recruit a stand above QB for next year who will start.

"Myles has not beat him out, Orgeron said. "It's all about competition and Danny has done a lot of good things. We believe in him." Tennessee in two weeks will determine, at least for me, how good he is.

With Etling, we are adequate, except when we play Bama. This is obvious. However, we need to let Brennan and Narcisse play now. Need to see how they handle SEC play in longer playing time stints. And - go get a stud QB in recruiting!! Don't care where they have to go! Tired of "adequate".
