Former LSU Star Jamal Adams Suffers Potentially Serious Knee Injury In Preseason Game

Former LSU star Jamal Adams suffered a potentially significant knee injury during the Minnesota Vikings' 13-10 preseason win over the New York Giants on Saturday.

Adams went down during the second quarter at MetLife Stadium while in coverage on Jaxson Dart's 15-yard touchdown pass to Malachi Fields. After being evaluated in the medical tent, Adams was taken to the locker room on a cart with what the Vikings later announced as a right knee injury.

Vikings head coach Kevin O'Connell did not have an official diagnosis after the game but acknowledged that the early evaluation was concerning.

"Initial exam does not look good," O'Connell said. "Don't want to confirm anything until we see the imaging on that."

The injury comes less than three weeks after Adams signed with Minnesota on July 27. The 30-year-old former LSU All-American had been working at both linebacker and safety and played 11 defensive snaps with one tackle before leaving Saturday's game.

Adams starred at LSU from 2014-16 before the New York Jets selected him No. 6 overall in the 2017 NFL Draft. The three-time Pro Bowler has battled several injuries throughout his NFL career, making Saturday's setback especially tough as he looked to carve out a role in Minnesota's defense.
