LSU coach Brian Kelly spoke with reporters after practice on Thursday and provided updates on tight end Mason Taylor and linebacker Omar Speight, who both suffered injuries during the Grambling game.

Kelly said that Taylor has made progress this week after spraining his ankle vs. Grambling and will be a game-time decision for Saturday's game at Mississippi State. If Taylor can't play, coach Kelly said LSU will lean on Mark Markway, Ka'Morreun Pimpton, Connor Galbreath, and Jackson McGohan.

Speights will travel with the team to Starkville and dress out but is doubtful to play. Kelly said that Greg Penn and Whit Weeks will play inside, allowing Harold Perkins to move around.

It seems that injuries have spiked this year. Is there something going on behind the scenes that may be contributing to this?

What is Speights injury and when did it happen in the game? I hope it didn't happen because he was in the game when it was 48 or 56 to nothing.
