LSU head coach Brian Kelly spoke on the SEC Coaches Teleconference on Wednesday and confirmed that defensive tackle Sydir Mitchell is no longer a part of the team.

Mitchell transferred to LSU from Texas in the offseason and did not appear in the Tigers' first two games this season.

“Look, there are standards,” Kelly said. “I can confirm he is no longer on the roster but we have standards that need to be met. And those standards were not met. Like any business or organization, you have workplace standards. So, those standards were not met. That’s all I’m going to talk about relative to Sydir because he’s no longer with us.”

Physical, academic or what? I guess we'll never know. Thankfully we have plenty left in the tank. He won't be missed, but good luck to him anyway. Hate to see a great opportunity wasted like that
