LSU defensive coordinator Dave Aranda and special team coordinator Bradley Dale Peveto were in West Monroe this week and visited with linebacker Layton Garnett.

Garnett recently spoke with NOLA.com about his visit and he was clearly impressive with Aranda.
quote:

"I loved (Aranda's outlook)," Garnett said. "He said he wants instinctive, big inside backers that like to fill holes north to south, and I feel like that's what I'm best at.... The 3-4 is brilliant in how he is running it."

NOLA.com also reports that Garnett, who could be visiting LSU this weekend, has not received a full scholarship but has been offered as a preferred walk-on. That could change depending on how the 2016 class shapes up.

"if he can keep the size and get quicker on his feet and an good understanding of lineups to defend specific offensive schemes he could be a great one"

I might say that would go for just about any LB. If you think any LB is not a good pick up just remember that Welter started for 2 years.

Nobody gets it........This kid is all heart and Aranda knows you need these type of guys. He's not relished by many but good on this coaching staff for trying to get this guy in mix of 26.
