LSU head coach Ed Orgeron and newly named defensive line coach Dennis Johnson headed over to Texas on Tuesday to visit with four-star OL/DL commit Chasen Hines in Marshall, TX and four-star DE commit Jarell Cherry in Dallas.

Hines, a 6-3, 335-pound prospect from Marshall HS is rated No. 10 offensive guard in the country, according to ESPN and the No. 24 defensive tackle in the country, according to 247Sports.

The Texas Longhorns remain in the mix for Hines despite his verbal pledge to LSU.

Cherry, a 6-3, 225-pound prospect from Carter HS is rated the No. 7 weakside defensive end in the country and the No. 13 overall player from the state of Texas for the class of 2018, according to Rivals.

He has been committed to LSU since April and is expected to sign with the Tigers during the early signing period starting on December 20.

I love that the staff is visiting committed prospects first and foremost, letting these guys know they take a back seat to no one! As it should be! I also like that private plane. O and Meatball gonna have some cocktails on the flight home!
